DOYLE SHATTERS BRYANT 3000 METER RECORD AT PENN RELAYS

PHILADELPHIA – Bryant University freshman track & field standout Deirdre Doyle (Carlow, Ireland) shattered the school’s 24 year old 3000 meter outdoor record Thursday evening at the Penn Relays at Franklin Field.

Doyle placed ninth overall in the event with an amazing time of 9 minute, 48.54 seconds, breaking former standout and Bryant Hall of Famer Lyse Wante Lepine’s previous mark of 10:11.00 set in 1986.

Doyle is coming off an excellent indoor season where she was named the Northeast Conference Most Outstanding Rookie at the championship meet in February.  During the indoor season, she set three school indoor records:  the 800 meters (2:19.88), the mile (5:00.15) and in the 3000m (9:55.93).

On Friday, Bryant’s men’s 4x400 meter relay team will compete at the Penn Relays.  Full results and video can be found at www.thePennRelays.com.
