SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University indoor track and field delivered another solid performance Saturday afternoon, as the Bulldogs engineered a number of season-best times and distances at the Harvard University Invitational.

"Overall it was a good day for the squad, we had a number of runners set personal best times and we the coaches can already see the progress early on in the season," said head indoor track and field coach Stephanie Reilly. "Now we can begin to focus on the main portion of our season after the semester break in January and really get into the swing of it."

Senior Scott Twardowksi (Rehoboth, Mass.) and Ryan Busby (Derry, N.H.) paced the Bulldogs in the mile event. Both runners recorded top-ten finishes with marks of 4:24.66 and 4:25.17 respectively.

The mile event proved to be a strong platform for Ben Coughlin (Worcester, Mass.), Ben Polichronopolous (South Berwick, Maine) and Christopher Chapruet (Danvers, Mass.), as the three runners engineered career best times in the 110-runner field.

Anthony Monteiro (Leominster, Mass.) put forth a solid showing for the Black and Gold, setting a school record in the 60m hurdles event with a time of 8.53. Monteiro finished sixth in the 50-person field and finished just four tenths behind the top-runner in the race.

Monteiro was not finished though, as he was joined by Joe Pugliano (West Springfield, Mass.) and Kyle Reid (North Raynhem, Mass.) as top performers in the 200 meter dash. Both Pugliano and Reid ran personal bests in the event. Reid recorded a personal-best time of 23.08 while Pugliano and Montiero finished 26th and 27th with times of 23.21 and 23.25 respectively in the field of 150 athletes.

For the second straight week Chris Brida (Southhampton, Mass.) led the field lineup, falling just short of the school record in the triple jump with a fifth-place distance of 13.90 meters.

Anthony Monteiro set the school record for the
60m hurdles Saturday afternoon.

On the women's side Sherika Nicholas paced Bryant, running a career-best 26.91 in the 200 meter dash.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Kimberly Warner (Shrewsbury, Mass.), Sherika Nicholas (East Patchogue, N.Y.), Allison Pavao (Swansea, Mass.), and Kaitlyn Campbell (Shrewsbury, Mass.) produced a time of 4:18.13 and an eight-place finish in the 17-team field.

Katelyn Kheller (Wrentham, Mass.) broke the 10 meter mark in the shot put competition, throwing the weighted-ball 10.1 meters, good enough for 29th place.

The Bulldogs return to action after the semester break on January 14th and 15th for the University of Rhode Island Invitational.
