BRYANT INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD COMPETES AT TERRIER INVITATIONAL

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University indoor track and field men's team competed in the Terrier Invitational at Boston University over the weekend, as several Bulldogs put forth record-breaking performances.

"The men had a fantastic day at the track and it was truly a great day by all," said head coach Stephanie Reilly. "This meet was a huge confidence booster as the team prepares for the home stretch towards the 2011 Indoor Track and Field Northeast Conference Championships."

Ryan Busby (Derry, N.H.) paced the Bulldogs with his personal and school-record 4:15.47 mile run en route to his 30th-place finish in the field of 125 competitors. Joining Busby in the mile was senior Scott Twardowski (Rehoboth, Mass.) who shattered his personal-best with a 42nd-place time of 4:18.78.

Joseph Pugliano (West Springfield, Mass.), Kyle Reid (North Raynham, Mass.), Michael Arons (West Hartford, Conn.) all set personal-bests in the 200m competition. Pugliano finished a team-best 32nd with a time of 22.62, while Reid and Arons finished 49th and 53rd respectively.

Junior Anthony Monteiro (Leominster, Mass.) recorded another top-ten finish in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.74.

The Black and Gold wrapped up the outing on a high note as Pugliano, Michael DiBella (Upper Saddle River, N.J.), Reid and Monteiro recorded a New England Championship qualifying time in the 4x400 meter relay, finishing the race in 3:22.62.

The Bulldogs are back in action Saturday, Feb. 5 at the Tufts Stampeded Invitational.
