Track & field wraps up season Saturday

Bryant concludes the 2011 season with a strong outing in the final day of the New England Championships

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University 4x100 relay team scored points in Saturday's final day of action at the 2011 New England Championships, placing seventh overall to pace the Bulldogs in their final day of competition in the 2010-11 season.

The team of Michael Arons (West Hartford, Conn.), Michael DiBella (Upper Saddle River, N.J.), Joe Pugliano (West Springfield, Mass.) and Kyle Reid (North Raynham, Mass.) clocked in at a time of 43.21 to finish in point-scoring range, while Bryant's 4x400 relay team took the other top-10 placement, earning ninth overall in 3:20.39.

On the individual circuits, junior Chris Brida (Southampton, Mass.) put up a strong number to place 13th in the triple jump, the best finish of any Bulldog on the day, measuring out at 13.72 meters. Peter Alie's 1.85-meter high jump tied the freshman for 15th overall, while a pair of Bryant runners – Ryan Busby (Derry, N.H.) and Scott Twardowski (Rehoboth, Mass.) – took top-25 finishes in the finals of the 1500 meter run. Busby, who was the top performer in the event for the Bulldogs this season, finished 22nd with a 4:00.09 run, while Twardowski took 25th overall (4:02.73).
