Three Bulldogs final at NECs

THREE FINAL FOR BULLDOGS ON DAY ONE OF NECS

EMMITSBURG, Md. – Three Bryant University track and field athletes qualified for finals competition on day one of the Northeast Conference Championships Saturday at Mount St. Mary's.

Freshman Kara Walsh (Waltham, Mass.) qualified in the 1500 with a time of 4:51.63. She finished 12th and will compete in the finals tomorrow. Senior Ryan Busby (Derry, N.H.) ran to a second-place finish in the 1500 to qualify for tomorrow's finals. He ran the 1500 in a time of 3:58.97. Bryant's other finalist is senior Anthony Monteiro (Leominster, Mass.) in the 110 hurdles. Monteiro just made the cut, finishing eighth with a time of 15.39. The veteran hurdler also just missed the finals in the 400 hurdles with a time of 55.81, less than two tenths of a time slower than the final qualifier.

The Bulldogs did not score a point on Saturday but will look to change that on Sunday. Day two gets underway with field events starting at 10:00 a.m.
