35 WINTER ATHLETES NAMED TO NEC ACADEMIC HONOR ROLL, FIVE NAMED COMMISSIONER'S HONOR ROLL HONOREES

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Five indoor track and field student-athletes highlighted Bryant's 35 Northeast Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll selections, as the Bulldogs upped their winter qualifiers by seven to bring the 2011-12 academic honoree total to 113 through two seasons.

Track and field rookie standouts Michael DiTocco (Pembroke, Mass.) and Brooke Tomasetti (Waterford, Conn.) join repeat honorees sophomore Eimear Black (Glengormley, Ireland), junior Colin Gannon (Litchfield, Conn.) and graduate student Scott Twardowski (Rehoboth, Mass.) as NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll selections, a special designation reserved for student-athletes who maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.75 or above.

The 35 Bulldogs to earn NEC Academic Honor Roll distinction are among the league's 533 winter student-athletes who have maintained a GPA of 3.20 or above and have participated with distinction as a member of their respective teams. Of those athletes, 139 league-wide were named to the prestigious Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Men's indoor track and field leads the way for the Bulldogs in NEC Academic Honor Roll picks, placing 14 on the list, while 10 of their female counterparts were recognized. Nine women's swimmers made the grade and qualified for the distinction, while one member of both the men's and women's basketball teams were tabbed on the exclusive roll call.
