Bulldogs perform well in 2013 debut

SEVERAL TOP-10 FINISHES HIGHLIGHT 2013 DEBUT FOR T&F

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Led by top-10 finishes from Adam Malone (Speonk, N.Y.), Nick Todman (Danbury, Conn.), Kara Walsh (Waltham, Mass.) and Annmarie Tuxbury (New Hartford, Conn.), the Bryant University indoor track and field team opened the 2013 portion of its schedule on Saturday (Jan. 12) at the 31st Yale Intercollegiate Track Classic.

After nearly an entire month between competitions, the Bulldogs began their preparation for the Northeast Conference championships. In just his third-career meet, Malone registered a new career-best in the triple jump, finishing second with a jump of 13.53m. Todman finished sixth in the weight throw with a distance of 13.75m. Running the 800 for the first time this season, Walsh finished sixth with a time of 2:23.79. Tuxbury finished fifth in the 3000 with a time of 10:21.87.

Several other Bulldogs also recorded season-bests at the meet. Samantha Puckett (Canterbury, N.H.) set a personal best with a distance of 12.31m in the weight throw, finishing 11th. Outside of his sixth-place finish in the weight, Todman also finished 10th in the shot. Kevin Louine (Mattapan, Mass.) also added a 10th-place finish in the 400m dash, crossing the line with a time of 51.11.

The Bulldogs are back in action next weekend when they head down the road to the University of Rhode Island for the Sorlien Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 19.
