Several Bulldogs shine at Sorlien Invite

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University track and field teams used a solid all-around effort at the Sorlien Invitational on Saturday (Jan. 19) at the University of Rhode Island. The men finished seventh among nine teams, while the women were seventh out of eight teams.

The Bulldog men were led by strong performances from freshman Toren O'Leary (Luxembourg), classmate Adam Malone (Speonk, N.Y.) and junior Nick Todman (Danbury, Conn.). O'Leary sprinted to a sixth-place finish in the 60m dash, finishing with a time of 7.21, while also placing 12th in the 200m dash with a time of 23.53. Malone earned his second-straight top-10 finish in the triple jump, finishing fifth with a distance of 13.50m. Todman was dominant in the weight events, finishing fifth in the weight throw (13.71m) and sixth in the shot put (13.79m).

On the women's side, the Black and Gold were led by their distance runners. Freshman Annmarie Tuxbury (New Hartford, Conn.) and junior Martha Reynolds (London, England) both finished in the top five in the mile run. Tuxbury was third with a time of 5:10.56 and Reynolds was fifth with a time of 5:13.95. Sophomore Kara Walsh (Waltham, Mass.) also finished in the top 10, placing seventh in the 1000m with a time of 3:05.61. Junior Katelyn Kelleher (Wrentham, Mass.) and freshman Samantha Puckett (Canterbury, N.H.) finished 7-8 in the weight throw as well for the Bulldogs.

Bryant returns to action next weekend when it competes in the Terrier Invitational hosted by Boston University.
