Reynolds highlights day one of NECs

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Senior Martha Reynolds (London, England) finished second in the 3000 to highlight a strong performance from the Bryant University track and field teams on day one of the Northeast Conference championships Saturday in Landover, Md.

The Bulldog women currently have eight points and are in sixth place. The men have seven points and are in eighth.

Reynolds was outstanding for the Bulldogs on the opening day, finishing second with a time of 9:54.27. She also qualified for ECACs with the performance. Junior Brooke Tomasetti (Waterford, Conn.) shined as well, qualifying for the finals in the 800 with a time of 2:19.18.

The Bulldogs also received strong performances on the men's side. Peter Alie (Stoneham, Mass.) finished sixth in the high jump with a height of 1.92m and Richard Landry (Holyoke, Mass.) finished seventh in the 3000 with a time of 8:54.72. Francis Foley (Acton, Mass.) qualified for the finals in the mile run with a time of 4:32.21.

Day two of competition begins at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow.
