Bulldogs open 2015 with strong performance at Sorlien Invitational

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Junior Kristen Hayes (Menands, N.Y.) and freshman MiaLynne Park (Jewett City, Conn.) both placed themselves in the program's all-time top 5 in the 60m and 200m to lead the Bryant University Track and Field team in their 2015 debut at the Sorlien Invitational.

One of Bryant's top all-time 400 runners, Hayes placed herself inside the program's all-time top five with 8.15 in the 60m dash and 26.16 in the 200. Her 60 time ties her for third all-time, while her time in the 200 is the second-best in school history. Park ran the 60 in 8.16 and the 200 in 26.60.

Top performances:

Junior Annmarie Tuxbury (New Hartford, Conn.) record a pair of top-10 times in the 800 and mile. She finished fourth in the 800 with a time of 2:22.63. The time is the fifth best. Tuxbury then finished fourth in the mile with a time of 5:08.13 that places her sixth all-time.

Freshman Elizabeth Willmonton (Rowley, Mass.) finished eighth in the 3000 with a time of 10:56.55.

Junior Nicole Dempsey (Norwell, Mass.) finished fifth in the long jump with a distance of 5.02m. The 5.0m mark has only been broken four times in Bryant history and Dempsey has done it twice now.

Sophomore Jonee Harrison (Dorchester, Mass.) finished fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 15.11m. That stands as the third highest in Bryant's indoor history.

Senior Nicholas Douglas (Shelton, Conn.) finished fourth in the 200m with a time of 22.96. The time puts him at No.5 Bryant's record book.

Sophomore Richard Landry (Holyoke, Mass.) finished 10th in the 1000 with a time of 2:35.69. It is the eighth-fastest time in program history.

Junior Peter Thorp (Ormond Beach, Fla.) posted the second-best time in the 60m hurdles, finishing 14th with a time of 8.82.
