Three qualify for New Englands Saturday at URI

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Juniors Kristen Hayes (Menands, N.Y.) and Annmarie Tuxbury (New Hartford, Conn.) and sophomore Jonee Harrison (Dorchester, Mass.) all qualified for the New England Championships to highlight a strong performance from the Bryant University track and field team at the URI Coaches vs. Domestic Violence meet on Saturday.

The Bulldog men and women both finished ninth in the team scoring. Rhode Island won both the men's and women's meets.

Hayes qualified for New Englands in the 500 with a time of 1:17.28. She finished fifth in the event, while her time is just off her own school record set in 2014. Tuxbury qualified for postseason competition in the 1000, finishing sixth with a time of 3:03.24, which is good enough for second on Bryant's all-time top 10 list. Harrison earned a trip to New Englands with a distance of 15.14m in the weight throw.

Top Performers

Deion Raper (Brockton, Mass.) finished seventh in the 200m dash with a time of 23.14.

Nicholas Douglas (Shelton, Conn.) finished seventh in the 400 with a time of 51.17, placing him inside Bryant's all-time top 10.

Richard Landry (Holyoke, Mass.) posted the best time for the Bulldogs this season in the 800, finishing fifth with a time of 1:59.45.

Zachary LaClair (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Casey Mackisey (Warwick, R.I.) both entered Bryant's top 10 in the weight throw. LaClair recorded a throw of 13.22m and Mackisey recorded a throw of 12.93m.

Ademitokunbo Oremule (Mansfield, Conn.) jumped 1.84m in the high jump to move into the Bryant top 10.

Mike Cooke (Wrentham, Mass.) moved into the top 10 with a throw of 13.18m in the shot put.

Hayes and MiaLynne Park (Jewett City, Conn.) finished 6-7 in the 200.

Park went on to finish fifth in the 400 with a time of 1:00.22.

Bryant's distance medley relay team of Sarah Lapham (Greenwich, N.Y.), Kara Walsh (Waltham, Mass.), Tomasetti and Emily McNeil (Shelton, Conn.) posted a Bryant top 10 time of 13:38.68.
