Bulldogs open outdoor season on a snowy Saturday at Stony Brook

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University track and field team opened the outdoor portion of its schedule amidst wintry conditions on Saturday at Stony Brook.

The Bulldogs put together a strong performance on the afternoon, finishing second in the men's standings and third in the women's. Six teams from the Northeast competed in the meet hosted by the Seawolves.

Bryant earned three first-place finishes on the men's side and two on the women's side. Antonio Siracusa (Bridgewater, Mass.) won the 400 with a time of 54.58, Adam Malone (Speonk, N.Y.) won the long jump with a personal best jump of 6.38m and Mike Cooke (Wrentham, Mass.) won the shot put with a throw of 12.51m.

Nicole Dempsey (Norwell, Mass.) was a part of both first-place finishes for the women. She won the long jump with a distance of 5.12m and was the second leg of the winning 4x200 relay team. MiaLynne Park (Jewett City, Conn.) opened the relay, Rebecca Nunez (Greenwich, R.I.) ran third and Kristen Hayes (Menands, N.Y.) ran the final leg. Bryant won the event with a time of 1:52.34.

Other Top Performers

Nicholas Douglas (Shelton, Conn.) finished second in the 300 meter with a time of 36.52.

Peter Thorp (Ormond Beach, Fla.) finished third in the long jump with a jump of 5.75m.

Casey Mackisey (Warwick, R.I.) finished second in the hammer with a throw of 40.52m.

Hayes also finished second in the 300 meter with a time of 41.46.

Nunez ran to a second-place finish in the 400 with a time of 1:07.88.

Jonee Harrison (Dorchester, Mass.) was second in the shot put with a throw of 9.95m.
