Four school records fall as Bulldogs shine at Colonial Relays

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University track and field team set four school records to highlight an outstanding performance at the Colonial Relays held in Williamsburg, Va., this past weekend.

The Bulldog women posted 20 points on the weekend, good enough for 25th out of 49 teams. The men posted one point but set two school records in relays.

Bryant's top individual performance on the weekend came from junior Kristen Hayes (Menands, N.Y.). Running the 400m hurdles for the first time during the outdoor season, Hayes continued her unbelievable season. She won the event with a time of 1:01.44, finishing ahead of 64 other runners and qualifying for competition in the ECAC Championships.

The Black and Gold's four school records came in the 3000m steeplechase, men's 4x800 relay, women's sprint medley relay and the men's 4x200 relay. Junior Annmarie Tuxbury (New Hartford, Conn.) won her section and finished eighth in the 3000m steeplechase with a school-record time of 11:06.83.

In the men's 4x800 relay, Milan Duka (Belgrade, Serbia), Richard Landry (Holyoke, Mass.), Ryan Poholek (Attleboro, Mass.) and Thomas Mullally (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) combined to post a school-record time of 8:00.65. Deion Raper (Brockton, Mass.), Nicholas Douglas (Shelton, Conn.), Antonio Siracusa (Bridgewater, Mass.) and Justin Patterson (Marshfield, Mass.) combined to set the school record in the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:30.66.

Bryant's final school record came in the womne's sprint medley relay. MiaLynne Park (Jewitt City, Conn.), Nicole Dempsey (Norwell, Mass.), Hayes and Kara Walsh (Waltham, Mass.) combined to run a time of 4:13.97.

Other Top Performers

Alexander Evans (Bow, N.H.) finished eighth in the 3000 with a time of 9:17.74, earning the men their only point.

Brooke Tomasetti (Waterford, Conn.) and Walsh finished first and third, respectively, in their heat of the unseeded 800. Tomasetti went on to finish fifth overall with a time of 2:20.01.

Erin Svensen (Medway, Mass.) finished fourth in the unseeded 5000 with a time of 10:37.49.

Emily McNeil (Shelton, Conn.) won her section of the 1500.

Adam Malone (Speonk, N.Y.) finished second in the University men's triple jump. He recorded a jump of 13.85m.
