First-place finish, school record highlight strong showing at Holy Cross Invite

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Freshman Deion Raper (Brockton, Mass.) won the 110m hurdles and the women's 4x400 relay team set a school record to highlight a strong performance from the Bryant University track and field team at the Holy Cross Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldog women finished fifth with 51 points, while the men were sixth with 53.50 points.

Raper claimed the only first-place finish of the day for the Bulldogs. He won the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.47. The time puts him second on the all-time Bryant list.

In the 4x400 relay, MiaLynne Park (Jewett City, Conn.), Kristen Hayes (Menands, N.Y.), Rebecca Nunez (Greenwich, R.I.) and Kara Walsh (Waltham, Mass.) became the first quartet in school history to run a sub-4:00 relay. They posted a time of 3:58.04, three seconds faster than the previous record that was set in 2007.

Top Performers:

Nicole Dempsey (Norwell, Mass.) finished third in the 100m dash with a time of 12.46. It is the second fastest time in school history.

Brooke Tomasetti (Waterford, Conn.) finished fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:17.84. It is the third-fastest time in school history.

Martha Reynolds (London, England) led a strong showing in the 1500 with a fourth-place finish (4:50.03). Walsh finished fifth (4:51.53), Emily McNeil (Shelton, Conn.) finished sixth (4:53.24) and Brittany Sarza (Uxbridge, Mass.) finished eighth (4:55.18).

Annmarie Tuxbury (New Hartford, Conn.) finished second in the 5000 with a time of 17:17.33. It is the second fastest time in school history.

Jonee Harrison (Dorchester, Mass.) and Samantha Puckett (Canterbury, N.H.) had a strong showing in the hammer. Harrison finished third with a toss of 45.83m and Puckett was fifth (42.47m). Both were personal bests.

Richard Landry (Holyoke, Mass.) finished sixth in the 1500 with a time of 4:05.90.

Russell Stevens (Colchester, Conn.) and Blake Fenwick (Thomaston, Conn.) both finished in the top five of the 5000. Stevens finished third (15:23.04) and Fenwick was fifth (15:34.74).

The men's 4x400 relay team finished second with a time of 3:19.58.

Mike Cooke (Wrentham, Mass.) finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 13.18m.

Anthony Fratturelli (Leominster, Mass.) finished sixth in the discus with a throw of 35.03m. Benjamin Jackson (Enosburg Falls, Vt.) was seventh with a throw of 34.02.

Joseph Schwab (North Haven, Conn.) finished fourth in the javelin with a throw of 50.59m.
