Bulldogs compete well at George Davis Invitational

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – With the Northeast Conference Championships only two weeks away, the Bryant University track and field team performed well at the George Davis Invitational held by UMass Lowell in Lowell, Mass., on Saturday.

The Bulldogs finished fourth on the men's side and fifth on the women's side. UMass Lowell won both the men and women.

Senior Kristen Hayes (Menands, N.Y.) took home Bryant's only first-place finish of the day as she won the 400m dash with a time of 57.34. She was joined by sophomore MiaLynne Park (Jewett City, Conn.) who finished fourth in the event with a time of 59.75.

Senior Nicole Dempsey (Norwell, Mass.) also had a strong day, finishing fourth in the 100m dash (12.27) and fourth in the long jump (5.22m). Jonee Harrison (Dorchester, Mass.) finished seventh in the hammer with a throw of 46.35m.

On the men's side, sophomore Milan Duka (Belgrade, Serbia) finished second in the 1500 with a time of 3:59.17. He was joined by junior Richard Landry (Holyoke, Mass.) who finished ninth (4:08.67).

Deion Raper (Brockton, Mass.) had a strong performance, finishing fifth in the 110m hurdles (15.19) and the 400m hurdles (56.88). Justin Patterson (Marshfield, Mass.) added a fourth-place finish in the 400 (50.89), Evan Smith (Chester, Conn.) finished sixth in the 100 (11.26) and Brian Kraft (Reading, Mass.) finished sixth in the 200 (23.23).

The Bulldogs will compete in the Skyhawk Invitational hosted by Stonehill next weekend in Easton, Mass.
