Three Bulldogs set school records at New Englands, ECAC/IC4As

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University track and field team set three school records over the weekend at the New England Championships and at the ECAC/IC4A Championships.

The Bulldogs have 15 athletes compete in the two postseason meets this past weekend and junior Jonee Harrison (Dorchester, Mass.), sophomore Deion Raper (Brockton, Mass.) and sophomore Milan Duka (Belgrade, Serbia) all set school records.

Harrison, who broke the school record in the hammer earlier this year, broke it again on Saturday finishing sixth at the New England Championships with a throw of 49.63m. Raper broke the school record in the 110m hurdles, finishing 11th with a time of 14.98 seconds. He is the first male in school history to run a sub-15.00 second race. Duka added to his storied career with a school-record performance in the 1500m at the ECAC/IC4A Championships. He finished 27th with a time of 3:55.44, two hundredths of a second faster than Ryan Busby's previous record time of 3:55.46 set in 2012.

Other Performers

Nicole Dempsey (Norwell, Mass.) finished 15th in the 100m dash at the New England Championships. She posted a time of 12.47.

MiaLynne Park (Jewett City, Conn.) finished 20th in the 400m dash with a time of 58.32.

Elizabeth Willmonton (Rowley, Mass.) finished 14th in the 5k with a time of 18:00.66.

Kristen Hayes (Menands, N.Y.) competed in both the New England and ECAC/IC4A Championships. She finished fourth in the prelims of the 400m hurdles at New Englands and 19th at the ECAC/IC4As.

Erin Svensen (Medway, Mass.) finished 27th in the 5k (18:43.43) at the New England Championships.

Kelsey Charette (Somers, Conn.) finished 16th in the javelin (36.58m) at the New England Championships.

Rebecca Varney (East Longmeadow, Mass.) competed in three events of the heptathalon, finishing eighth in the high jump (1.48m), ninth in the 100m dash (16.67) and 10th in the shot put (6.62m).

Evan Smith (Chester, Conn.) finished 27th in the 100m dash (11.18) at the New England Championships.

Justin Patterson (Marshfield, Mass.) finished 21st in the 400m dash (50.09) at the New England Championships.

Richard Landry (Holyoke, Mass.) finished 20th in the 1500 (4:05.88) at New Englands.

Russell Stevens (Colchester, Conn.) finished 22nd in the 5k (15:41.28) at the New England Championships.

Adam Malone (Speonk, N.Y.) finished 20th in the triple jump (13.63m) at the New England Championships.
