Harrison re-breaks school record to headline Bulldogs’ efforts in the Coaches Tribute at URI

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's indoor track and field team finished 11th and the women finished eighth at the Coaches Tribute Invitational over the weekend on the campus of the University of the Rhode Island.

On the men's side, the host Rams finished with 193 points to take first place, followed by New Hampshire (83.5), Central Connecticut State (68), Stonehill (57.5), Brown (53), Providence (50), Merrimack (32), UMass Dartmouth (30), American International (28), Rhode Island College (24), Bryant (16), Eastern Connecticut (7) and UMass Boston (2).

For the women, UMass Amherst took first place with a total of 125.5 points. The Rams finished second with a total of 118.75 points, followed by Holy Cross (81), New Hampshire (77.25), Brown (51), Stonehill (50.5), Central Connecticut (29), the Bulldogs (26), UMass Boston (23), Rhode Island College (21), Merrimack (18), AIC (10), Providence College (9) and UMass Dartmouth (1).

Senior Jonee Harrison (Dorchester, Mass.) broke her own school record in the weight throw for a second time with a distance of 16.60, as she finished second in the event. The Bryant women had yet another strong meet collectively, with two additional top-three finishes and times that were just off the program mark.

Junior Melissa Lodge (Hopkinton, Mass.) claimed first place in the 800m with a time of 2:17.13 for the second-fasted run in school history. The girl who owns the record in that event, freshman Jacklyn Sullivan (Plymouth, Mass.), finished third in the 500m with a time of 1:18.53 which was good for second-best in school history. Freshman Olivia Weiss (Newton, Mass.) placed seventh in the 1000 with a time of 3:05.13 which was good for fourth-best in program history.

For the Bryant men, junior Deion Raper (Brockton, Mass.) had a busy Saturday afternoon at URI, as he competed in three events. Raper placed sixth in the 200m with a time of 22.91, good for seventh-fastest in school history. He also finished sixth in the 60m hurdles with the program's fifth-best time at 8.63 seconds.

Senior distance runner Milan Duka (Belgrade, Serbia) placed eighth in the 26-man 800m final with a time of 1:58.24, fifth-best in school history. Freshmen Brian Murray (Westford, Mass.) and Christopher Wrenn (Norton, Mass.) each finished seventh in the 400m and the 500m, respectively. Murray finished with a time of 52.28 and Wrenn finished with a time of 1:09.15.
