Bulldogs show well at Valentine Invitational

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University track and field team wrapped up its final preparations for championship season with a strong performance at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University over the weekend.

Bryant's women's distance runners performed well. Jacklyn Sullivan (Plymouth, Mass.) finished 26th out of 88 in the 800m with a school-record time of 2:13.54. She also qualified for the ECAC Championships with the time. Melissa Lodge (Hopkinton, Mass.) went on to finish 35th out of 88 in the mile with a school-record time of 4:56.89. Lodge also qualified for the ECAC Championships with her time. 

Emily Cluck (Johnson City, N.Y.) put forth a strong showing in the 200m dash, finishing 34th out of 88 runners with a time of 25.64.

Jonee Harrison (Dorchester, Mass.) got her final prep for the NEC Championships by finishing 23rd in the weight throw with a toss of 14.98m.

Shirley Carrington (Dorchester, Mass.) posted a career-best time in the 200m, posting a time of 26.72. It is the sixth-fastest time in school history. Alexandra Watts (Clinton, Conn.) tied her own program record in the pole vault with a height of 3.20m. 

Justin Patterson (Marshfield, Mass.) had a strong showing in the 500m dash, finishing 34th out of 59 with a time of 1:06.78. It was the fastest time of his career and the fifth-fastest time in program history. 

Joseph Siuta (Unionville, Conn.) and Ryan Gannon (Litchfield, Conn.) competed in the 1000m, while Richard Landry (Holyoke, Mass.) ran in the mile. Suita and Gannon both posted personal-best times in the 1000. 

Christopher Wrenn (Norton, Mass.) also set a PR on Saturday, posting a time of 1:56.11 in the 800m. It is the third-fastest time in program history. 

The Bulldogs will now head to Staten Island for the 2017 NEC Indoor Track and Field Championships. The two-day event begins Friday at the Ocean Breeze Track Facility and wraps up on Saturday.
