Lodge wins 3000m on final day of CSU Spring Break Invite

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Junior Melissa Lodge (Hopkinton, Mass.) won the 3000m to highlight the Bryant University track and field teams performance on the final day of the Charleston Southern Spring Break Invitational on Saturday in Charleston, S.C.

After finishing second in the 1500 on Friday, Lodge took home the 3000 with a time of 10:21.38. Senior Emily McNeil (Shelton, Conn.) finished third in the event.

Senior Milan Duka (Belgrade, Serbia) added his second third-place finish of the weekend, posting a time of 1:57.98 in the 800 on Saturday.

Matt McGovern (Long Beach, N.Y.) and Alexander Evans (Bow, N.H.) finished eighth and 10th, respectively, in the 3000.

Benjamin Jackson (Enosburg Falls, Vt.), who finished 10th in the shot put on Friday, finished ninth in the discus with a throw of 39.77m.

The Bulldogs return to the track in two weeks when they host the Black and Gold Invitational on Saturday, April 1. The meet will be held at the Track & Turf Complex.
