Sullivan, Watts set school records Saturday at Skyhawk Invite

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Freshman Jacklyn Sullivan (Plymouth, Mass.) and sophomore Alexandra Watts (Clinton, Conn.) both set school records as the Bryant University track and field team competed at the Stonehill Skyhawk Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

The men finished ninth with 28 points, while the women finished seventh with 38 points.

A week after coming close to the school record, Sullivan shattered the 30-year old mark by over a second on Saturday. She finished third in the event with a time of 2:13.80, which is over a second faster than Diane Tedford's previous record time of 2:14.94 in 1987.

Watts broke the school record in the pole vault for the second time this spring, finished second after clearing a height of 3.40m. She had recently set the school mark with a height 3.35m.

Freshman Olivia Weiss (Newton, N.J.) joined Sullivan in the 800 and finished fifth. Both runners qualified for the New England Championships with their performances.

Senior Emily McNeil (Shelton, Conn.) and junior Melissa Lodge (Hopkinton, Mass.) both excelled in the distance events. McNeil finished seventh in the 1500 and Lodge placed second in the 3000.

On the men's side, sophomore Evan Smith (Chester, Conn.) posted a time of 11.17 in the 100m dash, the sixth-fastest in program history. It is the fastest time for a Bulldog since 2013. He finished fifth in the event and classmate Brian Kraft (Reading, Mass.) finished seventh.

Freshman Brian Murray (Westford, Mass.) and sophomore Alec Binette (Glastonbury, Conn.) finished 6-7 in the 200m dash.

Junior Justin Patterson (Marshfield, Mass.) finished fourth in the 400 and was the fastest Division I athlete in the event.
