Bulldogs take home two relay medals on day one of NEC Championships

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – It was a historic Saturday for the Bryant University track and field program as both the men's and women's 4x800 relay teams earned silver medals on day one of the Northeast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Mount St. Mary's.

The Bulldogs scored eight points on both the men's and women's side on Saturday. Saint Francis U. is in first place on the men's side, while Sacred Heart is in first place on the women's side.

Milan Duka (Belgrade, Serbia), Christopher Wrenn (Norton, Mass.), Ryan Poholek (Attleboro, Mass.) and Richard Landry (Holyoke, Mass.) teamed up to finish second with a time of 7:51.39.

On the women's side, Jacklyn Sullivan (Plymouth, Mass.), Emily McNeil (Shelton, Conn.), Olivia Weiss (Newton, N.J.) and Melissa Lodge (Hopkinton, Mass.) teamed up to finish with a time of 9:23.46.

Bryant also had several individuals qualify for finals on Sunday. Landry and Wrenn both qualified in the 800, finishing seventh and eighth in the prelims.

Emily Cluck (Johnson City, N.Y.) qualified in the women's 100, while MiaLynne Park (Jewett City, Conn.) qualified in the 400.

Weiss, McNeil and Lodge all qualified individually as well. Weiss will run in Sunday's 800 final, while McNeil and Lodge will run in the 1500 final.
