Lodge, 4x800 relay set school records at ECAC/IC4As and New Englands

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Two school records fell this past weekend as the Bryant University track and field program competed at the New England Championships and the ECAC/IC4A Championships.

Junior Melissa Lodge (Hopkinton, Mass.) became the fastest 1500 runner in program history on Sunday at the ECAC/IC4A Championships, posting a time of 4:30.42. It is nearly three seconds faster than the previous record that was held by Bryant great Deidre Doyle since 2010.

The men's 4x800 relay also set a school record, shattering the previous mark with an outstanding performance. Milan Duka (Belgrade, Serbia), Richard Landry (Holyoke, Mass.), Christopher Wrenn (Norton, Mass.) and Ryan Poholek (Attleboro, Mass.) combined to run the event in 7:43.98, breaking the record by 10 seconds. They are the first 4x800 relay team in school history to post a time under 7:50 on their way to a fifth-place finish.

Sophomore Alexandra Watts (Clinton, Conn.) tied her own school record in the pole vault, finishing ninth by clearing a height of 3.40m.

Senior Jonee Harrison (Dorchester, Mass.) and freshmen Jacklyn Sullivan (Plymouth, Mass.) and Olivia Weiss (Newton, N.J.) also competed at New Englands. Harrison finished 19th in the hammer, while Sullivan and Weiss finished 18th and 21st, respectively, in the 800.
