Bulldog Women Take Home First Place at CCSU

NEW BRITAIN, CT- The Bryant women's track and field team captured an overall victory in Saturday's Blue Devil Invite at Central Connecticut on the back of six individual event wins. The men's team also picked up three event wins on their way to a second place overall finish. Emma Garrity's winning run in the 200 meters also broke the Bryant school record.

Bulldog Notes and Notables (Women)

  • In addition to her record setting time in the 200, Garrity now ranks third in the NEC this season in the event. She's top three in the conference in the 200, 400, and 800 this year.

  • Lily Lagoy and Kasey Thomas took home a 1-2 finish in the shot put. Lagoy won with a 12.64 meter throw, while Thomas came second at 12.11 meters.

  • Savannah Pineda (long jump), Shiliegh Martinez (pole vault), and the women's 4x100 relay team of Ana Bertarelli, Jasmine Hope, Nicole Xiarhos, and Pineda also took home wins for the Bulldogs.

Bulldog Notes and Notables (Men)

  • Nicholas Alessandro won men's javelin with a distance of 56.33. His best distance of 62.62 is the second best in the NEC this season.

  • Kalan Aylward won the long jump with a distance of 6.62 meters, the sixth best in Bryant history.

  • Nicholas Mirecki picked up the third field win for the Bulldogs, jumping a 4.40 meters, the second best mark in Bryant history.

The Bulldogs will head to Maryland this weekend for the NEC Championships on May 7-8, hosted by Mount St. Mary's.
