Bulldogs' British Connection Headlines on Opening Day of America East Championships

ALBANY, N.Y.- Lois Warden and Jasmine Trott led the Bryant track and field teams on the opening day of the America East Championships, taking home the Bulldogs' first two medals of the weekend. Overall, the Bulldogs had six women and two men score points after six events each.

Warden became Bryant's first America East outdoor champion, starting the day with a victory in the pole vault. Trott ended the day some five hours later with the Bulldogs' first silver, completing a strong run in the 10,000 meters.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Warden was the only competitor to clear the 3.70 meter bar, doing so on her first try. 

  • Trott's runner-up finish in the 10k was her first career medal in indoor or outdoor competition. She crossed the line 30 seconds ahead of third.

  • Sydney Golas joined Warden in the points for the pole vault. She placed seventh with a 3.10 meter mark.

  • Nicholas Brancato broke his own Bryant record en route to a fourth place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase, finishing with a time of 9:08.58.

  • Anna Orticerio placed fifth in the hammer throw with a distance of 47.27 meters.

  • Nicholas Mirecki placed fifth in the men's pole vault, clearing the 4.40 meter bar.

  • Hannah McEntee placed eighth in the javelin with a distance of 29.94 meters.

  • Jasmine Hope finished eighth in the long jump with a distance of 5.59 meters.

The Bulldogs will be back in action with the remaining 16 event finals taking place tomorrow. Field festivities begin at 10:00 am with track events starting at 11:00.
