Bulldogs continue record shattering season at Terrier Classic and Wheaton Invite

BOSTON/NORTON, MASS.- The Bryant track and field teams broke five school records and secured 18 all-time top 10 finishes as they competed in both the John Thomas Terrier Classic and the Wheaton Invite.

Sophomore Ryan Slaney got the weekend started by setting the school's record in the men's mile; finishing in 4:05.30 on Friday night. Graduate Students Aliya Barrows and Kasey Thomas would continue their impressive seasons on Saturday with Barrows becoming first all-time in the women's 500m (1:13.30) and Thomas resetting her school record in the shot put for the fifth time this year (14.70m).

The Black and Gold also had two of their relay teams set program records this weekend. The women's 4x400m relay led by Aliya Barrows, Lauren Haddad, Ana Bertarelli, and Savannah Pineda finished 10th overall in the Terrier Classic with a time of 3:49.01. The men's distance medley relay team finished fifth overall at the meet as Nolan Hickey, Toby Ruffo, Aidan Hickey, and Ryan Slaney combined for a time of 9:49.74.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Maggie Fodera etched her name into the record books twice on Saturday as she is now third all-time for Bryant in women's high jump (1.57m) and 9th in long jump (4.99m)

  • Chloe Whiting improved her personal record in the women's 5000m by 58 seconds to secure the third all-time slot for the Bulldogs (17:24.54).

  • Aidan Hickey finished the men's 1000m in 2:26.47 for third all-time.

  • Kalen Knott cleared 4.35m in the men's pole vault to move to fifth all-time.

  • Jake Martino threw 14.66m in the men's shot put and now stands at fourth all-time.

  • Abby Hamilton now stands at sixth all-time in the women's mile after running 5:01.05.

  • Marissa Crowley 8th in 800m (broke 2:20 for the first time)

  • Bethany Marsella posted a time of 9.38 seconds in the women's 60m hurdles to place third all-time.

What's next: Bryant will compete in the URI Coaches Invitational on February 10th ahead of the America East Championships.
