Bryant Tip-Off Day 1: Bulldogs Win Opener 91-63

Smithfield, RI - The Bryant Women's Basketball started its season in style, shooting 51% from the field en route to a 91-63 victory over Queens in the first game of the 2006 Bryant Tip-Off.

Seniors Joanna Skiba (Providence, RI) and Lauren Rubenoff (New Hartford, CT) led the way with 14 points each, while freshman Kelsey O'Keefe (Warren, Mass.) added 13 points and six rebounds in her first collegiate game. Skiba finished with a double-double, as she had 11 assists.

Trailing early, the Bulldogs caught fire late in the first half and finished the half leading by 12, 46-34.

Jillian Henn led Queens with 18 points, including four from behind the arc. Jessica Sanchez and Danielle Castelli each tallied 16 points.

Backup point-guard Lynne-Ann Kokoski (Hatfield, Mass.) came off the bench to shoot 5-of-6 from the field for 11 points.

Bryant played solid team ball, as they had 30 total assists and forced 26 turnovers.

In the nightcap, AIC started fast and never trailed as they routed Felician College 66-26.

Alexis Castro led the Yellow Jackets with 16 points, while Stacy Boisvert added 13. The Yellow Jackets forced 34 turnovers and had 20 steals.

Jo Milling led Felician with eight points, while Crystal Ferrer led all players with seven boards.

The Bryant Tip-Off will continue Saturday when AIC (4-0) takes on Queens (0-1) 3:30 p.m., while the Bulldogs (1-0) look for their second straight win in the 2006-07 season against Felician (0-4) at 5:30 p.m.
