Game Notes

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University women's basketball team will play its final home game of the season on Monday, Feb. 21 when the Bulldogs welcome Quinnipiac to the Chace Athletic Center on senior day at 7:00 p.m. Bryant currently stands at 8-18 on the season and 5-10 in Northeast Conference play after dropping a 74-54 decision to visiting Sacred Heart on Saturday. Fans can follow all the game action through live stats at www.bryantbulldogs.com or watch a live webcast at www.bryantbulldogs.tv.

THE SERIES
Monday's game will be a reunion between two longtime Division II rivals as the Bulldogs hold a 17-13 edge over their former Northeast-10 opponent. Bryant is also 2-2 in the series since making the transition to Division I in 2008 after falling to the Bobcats, 85-74, on Jan. 17 at the TD Bank Center. The Bulldogs swept the season series last winter, including a 72-76 victory at the Chace Athletic Center behind Kelsey O'Keefe's 34-point performance. Bryant also claimed a 67-42 win in Hamden, Conn, as then-freshman Meredith Soper poured in 17 points.

PREVIOUSLY, IN THE NEC
After neck-and-neck play midway through the first half, Sacred Heart picked up the offense and never looked back as the Bryant University women's basketball team fell to the Pioneers, 74-54, in Northeast Conference play Saturday afternoon at the Chace Athletic Center.

Sophomore Danielle Douglas (Silver Spring, Md.) provided a bulk of the scoring for the Bulldogs as she netted 17 points on 6-for-13 shooting from the floor and added three steals. As a team, Bryant (8-18, 5-10 NEC) shot 34.5 percent from the field and outrebounded the Pioneers by a margin of 38-35.

Erika Norman paced Sacred Heart (16-10, 10-5 NEC) with a game-high 19 points while Maggie Cosgrove and Alexis Campbell added 17 and 11, respectively.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
Quinnipiac is 12-14 on the season and 8-6 in the conference after dropping a pair of games to Constitution State rivals, Central Connecticut and Sacred Heart. Freshman Brittany McQuain and junior Jacinda Dunbar each recorded double-doubles against CCSU on Saturday but it was not enough to hold off the Blue Devils as the Bobcats lost, 61-58. As a team, the Bobcats are averaging 64.0 points per game and allowing 68.0 ppg. Courtney Kaminski leads the lineup in scoring with 12.9 points per game while Felicia Barron is close behind with 11.8 ppg. McQuain is the team's best rebounder with 6.6 boards per contest.

LAST TIME OUT AGAINST THE BOBCATS
Down by 16 points at halftime, the Bryant University women's basketball team came out strong in the second stanza and chipped the Quinnipiac lead down to four, but it would not be enough as the Bulldogs fell, 85-74, in Northeast Conference action Monday afternoon at the TD Bank Sports Center.

The Bulldogs were down by as many as 20 points during the opening 20 minutes until a 3-point play from Brittany Stahura pulled the visitors to within four, 58-54, with 11:14 left in the second half but the home side would eventually extend their lead and go on to claim the win.

Bryant (5-12, 2-4 NEC) was led by sophomore Meredith Soper who scored 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Freshman Naana Ankoma-Mensa scored a team-high 15 points and sophomore Danielle Douglas recorded 12 tallies. Sophomore Katie Whittington and Brittany Stahura added 10 points each to round out the double-figure scorers for the visitors.

Felicia Barron scored a game-high 22 points for Quinnipiac (8-9, 5-1 NEC) while senior Courtney Kaminski added 21 points and six boards. As a team, the Bulldogs shot 41.9 percent on 26-for-62 shooting from the floor, including 48.6 percent in the second half.

TEACH ME HOW TO DOUG-LAS
Sophomore Danielle Douglas has been one of the most consistent players for the Bulldogs this season, highlighted by her play in the last three games, all against Connecticut squads, including Central Connecticut in the NEC's New England Knockout series last week. The Maryland native averaged 15 points per game in the three-game set, shooting 45 percent from the floor and 80 percent from the charity stripe. Overall, Douglas leads the team in scoring with 11.1 points per game and is one of three players on the roster to start and play in every game this season, along with Siamone Bennett and Meredith Soper.

TRIFECTA TROUBLES
After hitting a season-high nine 3-pointers against Central Connecticut on Feb. 12, the Bulldogs have struggled from beyond the arc in their last two outings, shooting 15 percent on 4-for-27 from long range.

ON THE OFFENSIVE…GLASS
The Black and Gold have been masters of the boards this season, leading the conference in rebounding with 41.8 boards per game while the team also tops the league with 16.27 offensive rebounds per contest. Individually, Siamone Bennett and Brittany Stahura rank first and seventh in offensive rebounds with 3.58 and 3.00, respectively.

UP NEXT
The Bulldogs head out to Brooklyn, N.Y. for their final road trip of the season next week, starting with a visit to St. Francis (NY) on Feb. 26 at 2:00 p.m.
