Bryant meets Wagner in President's Day matchup

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Bryant will play the finale of a three-game road stretch when the Bulldogs head to Staten Island to take on Wagner on President's Day for a 1 p.m. tip.

SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS
Wagner currently sits at 5-20 on the season with a 3-11 mark in Northeast Conference games. They come in to Monday's game on a three-game losing streak.

Sierra Clark has been Wagner's top player and one of the best players in the NEC this season. Clark is posting averages of 18.8 points and 9.6 rebounds per game this season. She is the only Seahawk to average double figures.

The Seahawks are coached by Heather Jacobs, who is in her second season with the program. She is 9-45 at Wagner since taking over prior to the 2016-17 season.

SERIES HISTORY vs. WAGNER
Bryant holds a 14-2 overall record against the Seahawks, but Wagner won the earlier meeting between the two schools on Dec. 29, 75-66.

NOTHING CAN STOP ME, I'M HOLLOWAY UP
In just her sophomore season, sophomore Sydney Holloway (Morgantown, W.Va.) has been one of the premier players in the conference. The Morgantown, West Virginia, native is currently third in the conference in scoring (17.3 ppg), first in rebounding (10.0 rpg) and tied-12th in blocks (0.8 bpg). She set a career-high in scoring and rebounding on Feb. 3, scoring 29 points and grabbing 22 rebounds versus Fairleigh Dickinson.

AY NAY NAY
After a breakout season in 2016-17, redshirt junior Naomi Ashley (Hamilton, Ont.) has been a force for the Bryant Bulldogs through the early stages of the season. Ashley was a rebound shy of a double-double against Boston College, going for 12 points and nine rebounds. At Holy Cross, the red-shirt junior had 9 points, 12 rebounds and 9 steals against the Crusaders. Ashley has posted averages of 9.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 2.7 assists as a redshirt junior, all career bests.

SCANNING THE RECORD BOOK
Freshman Hannah Scanlan (Rumson, N.J.) scored 27 points in the Northeast Conference opener vs. Wagner. The 27 points were the most-ever by a freshman in the program's Division I era.

WOMAN OF STEAL
In a two-point overtime defeat at Holy Cross, Naomi Ashley set a Bryant Division I program record for steals in a game with nine. She bested the previous best of eight set by Danielle Douglas in the 2010-2011 season. The program record belongs to Beth Connealy (now Wandyes), who had 10 in a game versus Springfield in 1995. Ashley had another big theft game vs. Rhode Island, coming away with six steals vs. the Rams in the first round of the Ocean State Tip-Off Tournament. She collected her 100th career steal in the NEC opener vs. Wagner on Dec. 29.

I'M FEELIN' 22
Sophomore Sydney Holloway inserted herself in the Bryant record book on Feb. 3, tying the Bryant program record for rebounds in a game with 22. It had been achieved just twice before, both times by Naana Ankoma-Mensa.

DON'T MIND IF I DO
Holloway also ranks 6th nationally in free throws attempted and 16th in free throws made. The sophomore averages 8.5 trips to the line per game.

BJELKO BUSTS OUT
Freshman Brooke Bjelko (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) played 29 minutes versus Mount St. Mary's and set career highs in points (12), rebounds (14), assists (2), field goals (3) and made free throws (6). Against the Mountaineers, Bjelko secured her first career double-double. In her next conference game, Bjelko scored 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds versus Central Connecticut.

SCANLAN DOWN LOW
Freshman Hannah Scanlan has posted averages of 8.5 points and 6.2 rebounds for the Bulldogs in her first collegiate season. In NEC play, Scanlan has been dominant, averaging 10.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 steals per game. For her play, she was named NEC Rookie of the Week on two-straight weeks.

EVERSON NAMED CAPTAIN
Bryant senior Kathleen Everson (Farmingville, N.Y.) was named a captain ahead of the 2017-18 season by head coach Mary Burke. Everson has set new career highs in points on three occasions. Against St. Francis Brooklyn, Everson scored a career-best 14 points.

BRYANT ADDS TWO
Bryant University women's basketball added two future Bulldogs during the early signing period, receiving National Letters of Intent from Trinity Bravo (Bridgeport, Conn.) and Alexandra Hart (Saco, Maine).
