Holloway pegged NEC Player of the Week

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University women's basketball sophomore Sydney Holloway (Morgantown, W.Va.) was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.

Holloway led the Bulldogs to a pair of victories over the weekend. She averaged 22 points, 14.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in conference wins over Mount St. Mary's and Wagner.

Against Mount, Holloway scored 20 points and pulled down 15 rebounds including seven of Bryant's last 11 points in the game.

Two days later, Holloway had 24 points, 14 rebounds, and four steals in a win over Wagner. Down as many as 18, the sophomore scored 10 fourth-quarter points and helped lead the Bulldogs to the second-largest comeback in NEC history.

Holloway is the first Bryant player since Alex Klein to take home the weekly honor. As a freshman last season, Holloway earned three NEC Rookie of the Week awards.

Bryant is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 24 when the Bulldogs host Robert Morris in the team's annual Pink Game.
