Holloway earns second NEC Player of the Week

SOMERSET, N.J. – For the second time this season, Bryant University women's basketball junior forward Sydney Holloway (Morgantown, W. Va.) has earned Northeast Conference Player of the Week and College Sports Madness Mid-Major Conference Player of the Week, as announced Monday.

Holloway joined the 1,000-point club on Sunday, December 30 against Holy Cross as the junior tallied her eighth double-double of the season with 26 points and 13 rebounds. The Morgantown native scored 10 points alone from the foul line shooting 10-of-13 on Sunday. Holloway also chipped in one assist, two blocks and two steals during the 81-62 loss.

Her 1,000th point made her the fastest in Bryant women's basketball Division I history to reach the milestone as she became the 25th member of the club. The last time Bryant women's basketball had a 1,000-point scorer was Breanna Rucker in 2016.

The junior forward is averaging a double double with 18.9 points per game and 12.3 rebounds per game, which has given her top national ranks. Holloway is currently ninth in the country for rebounds per game, sixth for offensive boards a game with five, tenth for double-doubles with eight, and 17th for rebounds with 135.

Bryant begins Northeast Conference play on Saturday, January 5 at 1 p.m. as the Bulldogs host LIU Brooklyn at the Chace Athletic Center.
