Bulldogs fall to Penn State on the road

STATE COLLEGE, PA. - The Bryant University women's basketball team fell to Penn State by a score of 96-33 in their Friday road game.

Key Moment

  •  PSU went on a 16-5 run in the second quarter to break the game open.

 How it Happened

  • It was a defensive battle in the first six minutes of the game. The Bulldogs forced five PSU turnovers compared to three of their own. The Black and Gold were outscored 10-4. Mariona Planes Fortuny hit two from the line, and Megan Bodziony added a fast break layup off a steal.
  • The Nittany Lions went on an 8-0 run before Alana Perkins nailed a wing triple (18-7). PSU then scored 10 to Bryant's zero, scoring 28-7 after one.
  • Penn State continued to run the full-court press and outdueled the Bulldogs 16-9 heading into the second quarter media timeout (44-16). Fortuny posted four, Nicole Gallagher hit a mid-range jumper, Kemari Reynolds converted on a steal, and Marta Neira Martinez hit a free throw.
  • PSU finished the half on a 7-2 run. Gallagher went 2-2 from the charity stripe (52-18).
  • The Bulldogs were outscored 22-3 in the third quarter (73-21). Brianna Frongillo (2) tallied her first points of the game.
  •  The Nittany Lions finished the game on a 23-12 run. Chasco and Perkins both had six in the final period.
