Bulldogs fall to Binghamton at home on Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's basketball team fell to Binghamton 62-51 at home on Saturday.

  • The Bulldogs had a seven-point lead at halftime and were outscored 37-19 in the second half, including scoring six compared to the Bearcats' 17 in the third quarter.

How it Happened

  • Binghamton jumped out to an early 9-5 lead in the first five minutes of the game. Nicole Gallagher scored four, and Lucie Castagne went 1-2 from the free-throw line.
  • The Bulldogs came back and outscored the Bearcats 12-4 to close out the quarter (17-13). Kemari Reynolds tallied three, Alana Perkins hit her first three of the game, Gallagher converted a layup, and Marta Neira Martinez hit a mid-range jumper. Blanca Chasco had a steal and finish for two.
  • It was a close beginning to the second quarter, with Bryant earning a slight 10-8 edge (27-21). Perkins opened the period with another triple, Castagne converted a tough and-one layup, Mariona Planes Fortuny got her first bucket, and Reynolds went 2-2 from the line.
  • Both teams kept up the intensity, with the Black and Gold gaining a 5-4 advantage in the last five minutes, giving the Dawgs a seven-point lead (32-25).
  • Bearcats began the second half on a 7-0 run, tying the game at 32 and forcing a Bryant timeout.
  • The Black and Gold tallied six on a Gallagher and Martinez three, while Binghamton scored eight, giving them a two-point advantage (40-38) at the media timeout.
  • Binghamton score two and held Bryant scoreless for the remainder of the third quarter, making the score 42-38 heading into the fourth quarter.
  • The Bulldogs were outscored 20-13 in the fourth quarter, resulting in a 62-51 defeat.
