The Black and Gold fall short against Tennessee St.

MIAMI, FLA. – The Bryant University women's basketball team fell to Tennessee State in the final game of the FIU Thanksgiving Tournament by a score of 53-43.

Kemari Reynolds and Martina Boba led the Bulldog scorers with 10 points.

  • The Black and Gold tied the game at 34 with seven minutes remaining and then were outscored 19-9 for the remainder of the game.

How it Happened

  • It was a battle to begin the game, with The Tigers earning a 4-2 lead at the media timeout after a Mariona Planes Fortuny layup.
  • The Bulldogs clamped down, defensively forcing three turnovers in the final three minutes and turning them into six points, four by Martina Boba and one for Fortuny. TSU tallied seven to gain an 11-10 advantage at the end of the quarter.
  • The Black and Gold were held scoreless in the second quarter until one minute left in the first half, as Boba converted a corner triple. The Tigers scored 11 in the second period, making the halftime deficit 22-11.
  • The Bulldogs fought back in the third quarter, going on a 12-6 run off of some Tiger turnovers. Mancini hit back-to-back triples, and Fortuny converted a transition layup (28-23).
  • Bryant held TSU to six points, and the Bulldogs scored seven points behind a Boba three and a Nia Scott last-second layup (34-30).
  • Nia Scott and Kemari Reynolds converted consecutive layups to tie the game up at 34, three minutes into the fourth quarter.
  • The Black and Gold were then outscored 19-9 to end the fourth, resulting in a 53-43 loss to the Tigers.
