Bulldogs drop road game to Vermont on Saturday

BURLINGTON, VT. - On Saturday, the Bryant University women's basketball team fell 61-35 to Vermont in Burlington.

Mariona Planes Fortuny tallied 10 points, and Megan Bodziony hit two three-pointers and had three steals.

  • UVM scored the first basket, which was countered with a Martina Boba and-one (3-2).
  • The Catamounts then went on a 6-0 run at 4:23 (9-3).
  • The Bulldogs would then be outscored 7-5, with all their points coming at the free-throw line, resulting in a 16-8 deficit after the first quarter.
  • UVM would go on a 6-0 run to begin the second quarter before Gonzalez hit a deep two to stop the run (22-10) with seven minutes in the half.
  • The Black and Gold would counter with a 7-3 run for the next six minutes, courtesy of a Nia Scott layup and five straight points from Gonzalez (25-17).
  • The Catamounts hit a three with 30 seconds left in the half, creating a 28-17 halftime deficit for the Bulldogs.
  • The Black and Gold scored three, and the Catamounts tallied five in the first three minutes of the half (33-20).
  • UVM would then record seven points, and Megan Bodziony hit a  three, giving Vermont a 37-23 lead at the media timeout.
  • The Catamounts ended the third quarter on a 12-2 run, resulting in a 49-25 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
