Bryant defeats UML at home and clinches No. 4 Seed

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's basketball team defeated UMass Lowell 60-51 at home and clinched the number four seed in the America East playoffs.

Mia Mancini posted 19 points, hitting four from beyond the arc, and Mariona Planes Fortuny recorded 16 points in the victory.

How it Happened

  • UML tallied four early points before Silvia Gonzalez nailed a three for the first Bulldog bucket of the game (4-3).
  • The Black and Gold then outscored the River Hawks 8-7 to close out the first quarter and gain a two-point lead (13-11).
  • The Bulldogs opened the first four minutes of the second quarter, posting eight points to UML's four. Fortuny had six, and Martina Boba posted two points (21-15).
  • Bryant then closed the first half on a 10-7 run, giving the Black and Gold a nine-point (31-22) halftime lead.
  • Bryant took control defensively in the third quarter, holding the River Hawks to nine points while scoring 12 to earn a 43-31 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
  • UML outscored Bryant 20-17 in the final period, which resulted in a 60-51 victory for the Bulldogs.
