Bryant places third on day one of Bowl for the Cure

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The Bryant University women's bowling team finished in third place following the first day of the Bowl for the Cure tournament in Fairfield, Conn.

Saturday was baker scoring, with five players responsible for two of the 10 frames in each game. Bryant finished the day 2-2, earning victories over Long Island and Molloy.

How it Happened

  • The Bulldogs opened the tournament with a bye, collecting 796 pins. 
  • Bryant faced St. Francis Brooklyn in its first-ever match, falling 778-748.
  • The Black and Gold earned their first-ever victory the following match, defeating No. 22 LIU, 887-854.
  • Bryant closed the day with a 978-912 loss to No. 16 Sacred Heart, before defeating Molloy, 912-800.
  • The Bulldogs finished the day in second place with a total pin fall of 4,255 for an average of 170.2
  • Bryant was led by Jenavieve Lyon, who finished with 19.24 average. 
  • Laura Clark averaged 19.22 and Abby Unson averaged 18.81.
  • Clark was named to the All-Tournament team for her performance.
