Bowling finishes strong at Northeast Classic

DEPTFORD, N.J. -- The Bryant University women's bowling team placed 27th out of 33 teams at the Northeast Classic this weekend in Deptford, New Jersey.

The Northeast Classic field was the second-largest bowling event in NCAA history and featured 22 Top-25 teams and seven former NCAA National Champions.

Bryant finished the three-day event with a 2-10 match record and a total pinfall of 10,987.

Friday - Baker

  • Bryant opened the weekend with losses to No. 19 Medaille, No. 17 Tulane, No. 8 Sam Houston St. and No. 3 Vanderbilt.
  • The Bulldogs bowled a high game of 860 against the Commodores. 

Saturday - Traditional

  • Bryant dropped matchups to No. 11 Maryville, No. 5 Stephen F. Austin, No. 1 McKendree, No. 7 Youngstown St. and No. 20 University of Central Missouri.
  • The Black and Gold bowled a high match of 904 against the nation's top-ranked team, McKendree. 

Sunday - Traditional

  • Bryant closed out the weekend with a 2-1 record on Sunday. After falling to LIU, the Bulldogs bounced back with wins over Chestnut Hill and LIU to claim 27th.
  • The Black and Gold earned a 950-876 win over LIU, who was receiving votes for the top 25. The 950 was Bryant's highest score of the tournament.

Notes and Notables

  • Jenavieve Lyon finished 70th overall on the weekend, posting an average of 188.60. She had a high of 268.
  • Olivia Hillman placed 91st overall, finishing the weekend with a 176.20 average.
  • Abby Unson earned a 94th place finish, scoring a 173.80 average.
  • Laura Clark placed 100th with an average of 168.40.
  • Kristy Murphy finished 141 with an average 157.00.
  • Lyon's 268 came against No. 1 McKendree.
