Bryant wins first tournament over the weekend on Long Island

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. -- The Bryant women's bowling team had a historic weekend on Long Island, winning its first-ever tournament.

Bryant claimed the traditional championship of the Lions Roar on Saturday. On Sunday, the Bulldogs finished second in the baker portion of the weekend.

Saturday - Traditional

  • Bryant opened the weekend with a 810-711 victory over Mollloy as Abigail Unson bowled a 211.
  • The Bulldogs were then defeated by St. Francis Brookly, 865-852, and LIU, 902-772.
  • Bryant closed out the title with an 838-594 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas.  
  • Unson racked up 881 pins, while Olivia Hillman picked up 878. 
  • Bryant won the title with a total pinfall of 4,096.

Sunday - Baker

  • The Bulldogs finished 4-1 in the baker portion on Sunday, defeating STAC, St. Francis Brooklyn and Molloy.
  • Bryant posted a high score of 889 in its win over the Terriers.  

Notes and Notables

  • Olivia Hillman and Abigail Unson were both named to the all-tournament team on Saturday.
  • Bryant's victory on Saturday was its first tournament win in program history.
