BRYANT WOMEN’S LACROSSE ADDS THREE TO COMPLETE CLASS OF 2014
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University head women’s lacrosse coach Karen Healy is pleased to announce the signing of three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent, welcoming Katherine Keckeisen (Danbury, Conn.), Kimberley Sniffen (Redding, Conn.) and Lisa Vendel (Sandy Hook, Conn.) to the Bulldog team for the 2011 season to round out the eight-member Class of 2014.

“Kate, Kim and Lisa have a passion and work ethic that mirrors their fellow incoming classmates, and they will be a welcome addition to our program,” said Healy. “We are expecting their impact to be felt immediately on the field and in the Bryant community. We are thrilled to have them join our Bulldog family.”
An explosive midfielder, Keckeisen has been lighting up the scoreboard for Danbury High School for the past four seasons. She is a three-time all-conference selection, earning All-FCIAC Honorable Mention accolades as a freshman, second team honors as a sophomore and a first-team all-league nod as a junior in 2009.
Keckeisen was an All-News Times selection following her sophomore and junior campaigns and capped off her long list of accolades with a spot on the all-state first team as a junior. Behind Keckeisen’s scoring power, the Danbury Hatters won a Division II state championship in 2008.
“Kate is a goal scorer,” said Healy. “She is a tough player and she makes things happen. Her ability to finish will be an invaluable asset to our offense.”
Sniffen, an attacking midfielder, will join the Bulldogs in 2011 after enjoying a four-year career as a varsity starter at Joel Barlow High School. As a junior, she was a team leader in nearly every statistical category, earning an all-conference selection for her performance, and was named to the Connecticut Post All-Area team as a senior captain in 2010.
In addition to her lacrosse accomplishments, Sniffen was also a talented soccer player at Joel Barlow, where she was a four-year starter for the Falcons’ soccer team, getting an all-conference honorable mention nod this past fall.
“Kim is a player who has experienced success in high school and has yet to tap into her full potential as a lacrosse player,” said Healy. “She brings good size and enthusiasm to the team, and we will look for her to grow into an attacking threat for us quickly.”
Vendel has been a marquee player at Newtown High School since arriving as a freshman. A tenacious midfielder, her scrappy play has led the Nighthawks to three-consecutive South West Conference Championships and earned her team MVP honors in 2008 and 2009.
Following her junior season, Vendel received All-American Honorable Mention honors, was a first-team all-state pick and was named to the Connecticut Super Juniors Team. She returned for her senior campaign as the reigning leader in goals and ground balls. Vendel was also a member of the field hockey team at Newtown, earning second team all-state honors as a senior.
“Lisa is a talented athlete with a tireless work ethic,” said Healy. “We expect her to set the tempo in the midfield for us next year and be force on offense.”
The trio, who all played for the Connecticut Lightning Club team, enter Bryant this fall and will join fellow Lightning teammate Melanie Erk, as well as signees Haley Bloom, Kelsey Greissing, Lindsay Langella and Olivia McCarthy in donning the Black and Gold for the 2011 women’s lacrosse season.
