Women's Lax Falls to Pioneers 11-10

Bulldogs Drop NEC Contest 11-10 at Sacred Heart

The Bryant women's lacrosse team fell to Sacred Heart, 11-10 Friday night in Northeast Conference action in Fairfield, Conn. Lauren Sheridan scored four goals to pace the Bulldogs.

 

Bryant (5-10, 4-4 NEC) took a 4-2 lead after back-to-back goals from Kimberley Sniffen and Lauren Sheridan midway through the first half. But the Pioneers came storming back with five-straight goals to close out the first half to take a 7-4 lead heading into the break.

 

Sacred Heart (7-8, 6-2) stretched its lead to 11-7 with 13 minutes remaining, but the Bulldogs would not go away quietly as three unanswered goals from Sheridan pulled the Bulldogs to within a goal.  The last coming on an unassisted tally with a little over three minutes remaining, but the Pioneers would hold on down the stretch.

 

Kate Kmiotek, Kelsey Russo, Kaitlin Rochler and Emily Pepe (four assists) each had two goals in the game for Sacred Heart.

 

Senior goalkeeper Lauren Filippone had 10 saves between the pipes. Olivia McCarthy and Mary Green each had a pair of goals while Katherine Keckeisen had a pair of assists to lead the Bulldogs who will wrap up the 2012 season Sunday at Quinnipiac.
