Bulldogs visit Albany Saturday (3 p.m.)

WOMEN'S LACROSSE LOOKS TO NOTCHES SECOND-STRAIGHT WIN SATURDAY AT ALBANY

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After a brief hiatus, the Bryant University women's lacrosse team will return to action Saturday afternoon (3 p.m.) when they visit the University at Albany.

The Bulldogs enter Saturday with a 1-1 overall mark after picking up their first victory of the 2013 season against Siena, 15-12, on Feb. 19. Junior midfielder Lisa Vendel (Sandy Hook, Conn.) and freshman attack Lauren Descalzo (Hauppauge, N.Y.) each tallied four goals in the contest to lead the Black and Gold to victory. The pair also earned Northeast Conference weekly honors for their performances, as Vendel was named NEC Player of the Week and Descalzo won Rookie of the Week.

Vendel and classmate Kimberley Sniffen (Redding, Conn.) lead Bryant in scoring with six points apiece entering the weekend, while junior goalkeeper Brianna Watt (Babylon, N.Y.) has posted 21 saves in her two starts between the pipes.

The Great Danes also open weekend play with a 1-1 over record, most recently defeating Niagara, 19-6, on Wednesday. Freshman Rachel Bowles leads Albany on the offensive end with six goals while junior Ariana Parker and sophomore Maureen Keggins have each tallied five point through two games. Junior Anna Berman handles the netminding duties for the Great Danes, playing for all but ten minutes this season.

"We are very excited to play a great Albany team on Saturday," said Bryant head coach Jill DePetris. "They have proven themselves to be a top team and will be a great early season challenge for our program."

This will mark the first ever meeting between the two schools and the first road game for the Bulldogs who will look make it two-straight Saturday afternoon.
