Descalzo garners IWLCA All-Region Second Team accolades

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After setting the Bryant women's lacrosse single-season Division I goals scored record, 2015 Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Year Lauren Descalzo (Hauppauge, N.Y.) continues to add to her list of postseason accolades, earning IWLCA All-Northeast Region Second Team honors.

Descalzo earns the first all-region honor of her career after guiding the Bulldogs to their second-consecutive Northeast Conference Regular-Season and Tournament crowns and leading the Black and Gold back to the NCAA tournament in 2015.

The junior attack led the Bulldogs and ranked second in the NEC this season with 61 goals, adding nine assists for 70 points at the conclusion of the 2015 campaign. The two-time all-conference first team selection found the back of the net in all but a pair of contests this spring while registering 12 hat tricks, including nine straight from March 28 through May 1. Her 61 goals and 3.39 goals per game average rank 10th and fifth in the nation, respectively.

Descalzo scored a career-high seven goals with eight points in a Feb. 28 win over Manhattan College and notched game winners over Fresno State, Saint Francis U. and Wagner in the 2015 NEC Championship. She registered at least one point in all but a single appearance and finished her junior campaign with 16 ground balls, 21 draw controls and nine caused turnovers.

The IWLCA honored 128 student-athletes in Division I with a selection on one of the All-Regional teams for 2015. These student-athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on Monday May 18.
