Santeramo named NEC Defensive Player of the Week

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- After a career two-game set between the pipes, Bryant University women's lacrosse junior goalie Samantha Santeramo (Wantagh, N.Y.) has been tabbed as the Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Santeramo was the rock of Bryant's defense on the week, stopping 26-of-43 shots for a .605 save percentage in a split last week. She began with eight saves in a 9-8 road victory over in-state rival Brown -- the first-ever win for the Bulldogs over their Rhode Island foe -- to win the 2017 Ocean State Cup title.

Santeramo followed with a career-high 18 saves and a career- and game-high five ground balls in a 9-8 overtime road loss to a strong Navy team. On the week, Santeramo recorded a 8.23 goals against average and played every second in the crease for the Black and Gold.

For the year, she has posted a 8.76 GAA and .518 save percentage.
