Martin tabbed as IWLCA All-Northeast Region selection

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University senior defender Molly Martin (Island Park, N.Y.) has been named to the IWLCA All-Northeast Region Second Team for her tremendous play for the Bulldogs throughout the 2017 season.

The first player in Northeast Conference women's lacrosse history to win consecutive NEC Defensive Player of the Year honors, Martin led the league's top-ranked defense, posting 47 ground balls and 32 caused turnovers. The four-year starter and senior captain ranks 53rd (2.61/game) and 57th (1.61/game) nationally in the statistics, while the Bulldog defense ranks 15th at just 9.22 goals allowed.

Martin graduates as the Bulldogs' Division I program record holder for caused turnovers (106) and games played (74), while ranking second in the team's DI history for career ground balls (150). The senior's 74 appearances also sets a new all-time program mark, while her career caused turnover and ground balls numbers rank second and fifth, respectively, in program history.

A three-time All-NEC First Team selection, Martin led her team to its third NEC Tournament title of the last four years this season, and guided Bryant to its fourth-straight regular-season crown. The Bulldogs fell to fourth-ranked and eighth-seeded Stony Brook in the NCAA First Round.

Martin is the only all-region honoree out of the Northeast Conference.
