Bryant scores 20 for first time since 2014 in comfortable win

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – For the Bryant University women's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon, a balanced but powerful attack was the recipe for success as 12 different Bulldogs scored a goal with three recording hat tricks in Bryant's 20-5 victory over Siena. The Bulldogs wrap up their 2018 non-conference schedule 5-4.

"This road win was such a great way to finish our non-conference schedule. We show what a dynamic team we really are, with 12 different scorers on offense and our defense allowing just one goal in the second half. We also out-hustled them to every 50/50 ball. I am really excited at where we are at this point in the season. We are peaking at the right time and are fully prepared for the challenging conference battles ahead of us."

KEY MOMENT

After Siena tied the game at two apiece early in the first half, Bryant ripped off a five-goal run from four different goal scorers to take a 7-2 advantage. The Bulldogs would not let Siena get closer than three the rest of the way.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Bryant and Siena split the game's first four goals, with senior Catlin Brown (San Diego, Calif.) and sophomore Caitlin Breglia (Long Beach, N.Y.) scoring for the Bulldogs.
• In the midst of Bryant's five-goal run to go up 7-2, junior Lauren Britton (Monmouth Beach, N.J.) would score two, while redshirt-sophomore Melissa Wamp (Florham Park, N.J.), junior Meredith James (Essex Falls, N.J.) and Breglia would tally the other three.
• Siena would cut Bryant's lead to three with two goals in a 40-second span, but after that it was all Bulldogs.
• Bryant scored the game's next 12 goals from nine different sources as they were able to cruise in the second half.

STATS

• Bryant recorded 43 shots on the afternoon, putting 30 on the cage of Siena goalkeeper Sammy Horton. Siena only tallied 18 shots, with 13 on cage.
• The Bulldogs were able to control the ground ball game, picking up 17 of the available 26.
• Bryant had an 18-8 advantage at the draw circle, including 11-3 in the first half.
• Breglia, Brown and Britton all scored three or more goals, with Breglia and Brown finding the net four times.
• Britton chipped in four ground balls, while senior Madison McNally (East Northport, N.Y.) and sophomore Katherine Clark (New Fairfield, Conn.) grabbed three each.
• Britton won eight draws on the day, while James chipped in four.

NOTES

• Bryant scored 20 goals for the first time since 2014 and just the third time in its Division I era.
• The Bulldogs had three players record hat tricks for the first time since March 10.
• Two different players in the Black and Gold scored their first-career goal: sophomore Sloane Sweitzer (Old Lyme, Conn.) and freshman Emma Lindquist (Windham, N.H.).
• Britton's eight draw controls are a new career high, besting when she recorded seven against Harvard earlier this year.
• Clark's two caused turnovers are a new career mark for her. She caused one turnover five different times in her career.
• Freshman Devon Bolen (Queensbury, N.Y.) made her Bulldogs debut.
• Bryant held Siena scoreless for a 36:58 stretch, their second-longest stretch of the season without letting the opposition score.
