Kapoosuzian chosen as NEC Defensive Player of the Week

SOMERSET, N.J. – Bryant University women's lacrosse sophomore Giana Kapoosuzian (Merrick, N.Y.) has been selected as Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced Monday by the NEC office.

Kapoosuzian made a career-high 18 saves in Bryant's 18-7 win over Central Connecticut Friday at Beirne Stadium. The sophomore's 18 stops rank tied for fifth in a single game in program history and were the third-most by an NEC goalie this season. Kapoosuzian also matched her career-best in goals allowed, originally set in the Bulldogs' previous game against LIU Brooklyn.

The Long Island native has recorded a .600 save percentage and 7.33 goals-against average in her first three games of NEC play. The weekly honor is her second of 2019, adding to an NEC Rookie of the Week selection March 11. Bryant is 7-5 on the year and has won three straight games to open its conference schedule.

The Bulldogs return to action Thursday at 7 p.m. when Bryant hosts Wagner in a rematch of the last five Northeast Conference Championships. Tickets are available HERE and the game can be seen on NEC Front Row.
