Bryant battles Robert Morris Friday

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The Bryant University women's lacrosse team travels to Pennsylvania for the final week of the regular season, looking to move towards an NEC tournament berth when the Bulldogs face Robert Morris Friday.

SCOUTING THE COLONIALS
Robert Morris is 10-4 on the year and has rebounded from an 0-2 start to NEC play by winning its last three games to pull into a three-way tie for third with Bryant and LIU Brooklyn. The Colonials defeated Saint Francis U, Sacred Heart and LIU Brooklyn by a margin of 48-16.

Twin sisters Mackenzie (37 goals, 17 assists) and Melanie (22 goals, 26 assists) Gandy lead the Robert Morris attack. The Colonials rank fourth nationally in ground balls per game (23.29) and 10th in caused turnovers per game (11.57). Kelly Colegrove is 15th in the country with 34 caused turnovers on the year.

THE SERIES
Bryant is 6-4 all-time against Robert Morris with victories in six of the last seven meetings. Bryant is 3-1 all-time in Moon Township in a series that dates back to 2010. 

Caitlin Breglia (Long Beach, N.Y.) and Jess DeMeo (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) scored four goals each in last year's meeting in Smithfield, while the Bryant defense held Robert Morris scoreless for a span of nearly 26 minutes to build a 10-1 lead and go on to a 15-9 victory at the Bryant Track & Turf Complex.

LAST TIME OUT: MOUNT ST. MARY'S 19, BRYANT 8
Bryant opened the game up 3-0, but Mount St. Mary's answered with a six-goal run and led the rest of the way Saturday in Smithfield. Sophomore Caitlin Bolen (Queensbury, N.Y.) scored two goals and added an assist for the Black & Gold. 

DRAW CONTROL 101
Senior Lauren Britton (Monmouth Beach, N.J.) recorded five draw controls Saturday, giving her 101 for the year. Britton is the first player in program history with 100 or more draw controls in a season. 

Britton ranks ninth nationally entering the week with 7.21 draw controls per game.

JESS TO IMPRESS
Senior Jess DeMeo ranks third in the NEC with 44 goals on the year. DeMeo ranks 34th nationally with 3.14 goals per game and 47th in total goals. 

DeMeo's 195 career goals rank sixth nationally among active players.

HERE TO HELP
Juniors Caitlin Breglia and Maggie Pressler (Smithfield, R.I.) enter Friday as two of the top three players in the NEC in assists. Breglia leads the conference with 31 on the year while Pressler has added 24. 

Breglia has recorded four assists three times in her last five games and ranks 21st in the nation in assists per game (2.21) and 29th in total assists. Pressler is 38th in assists per game (1.71) and 53rd in total assists.

Bryant closes the regular season Sunday at Saint Francis U. Opening draw between the Bulldogs and Red Flash is slated for noon. The game will not be aired on NEC Front Row.
