Record Tying 22 Goals Power Bryant to Seventh Straight Win

NORTH ANDOVER, MA- The Bryant women's lacrosse team tied a program single-game record for goals en route to their seventh straight win, defeating Merrimack 22-12 on Wednesday. The win also puts them at 6-0 in the NEC with a pair of conference games remaining. Alexa Weber scored four goals for the Bulldogs, while Cassidy Burns netted a career high seven assists.

How it Happened

Q1: The Warriors got the early upper hand, jumping out to a 3-1 lead in the opening minutes. The Bulldogs were mostly kept quiet, but were able to chip away and make it a one score game after the first fifteen. Burns scored or assisted on each of Bryant's first two goals.

Q2: Bryant took control of the game in the second, scoring four straight goals in the first six minutes to go up by three. The Bulldogs would ultimately score seven times in the period, with seven different players finding the back of the net and three dishing out an assist.

Q3: Alexa Weber and Emily Oliver kicked off the second half scoring for the Bulldogs, combining for three goals in the first four minutes of action. After a pair of Merrimack goals, Bryant went on another 4-0 run, extending the lead to seven at the end of the third. Burns recorded four assists on Bryant's seven goals in the quarter.

Q4: Weber scored her third goal less than ninety seconds into the fourth, followed just a minute later by Margaret Adams' second score. After two Merrimack goals, Chamberlaine Bell found the net for the third time for the Bulldogs' 20th goal. Weber and Lily Auger each scored again in the closing minutes to cap off the ten goal win.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Cassidy Burns' seven assists were the most in a game by a Bulldog this season, the second most in a single game nationwide, and the third most in Bryant D-I history. She added two goals to finish with a career high nine points.

  • Alexa Weber scored four goals and now has nine scores in her last two games. She's scored in every game for Bryant this season and has netted three hat tricks.

  • Peyton Woodward recorded her first career hat trick, finishing with three goals on three shot attempts. Chamberlaine Bell also scored three times, giving the Bulldogs three players with at least three goals in the game.

  • Bryant tied the D-I program record of 22 goals for the second time in their last three games, having done so on 4/9 at Howard. They scored 20 goals for the third straight game and fourth time this season.

  • The Bulldogs won by ten goals for the fifth straight time in NEC play and third straight overall. They've won by double-digits six times this season and rank top ten nationally with a +7.16 scoring differential per game.
