Bulldogs' Second Half Comeback Not Enough at Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H.- A valiant comeback effort was not enough as the Bryant women's lacrosse team dropped their first road game of the season, 15-13, at Dartmouth on Wednesday. Kenna Kaut and Chamberlaine Bell each netted hat tricks for the Bulldogs.

Bryant made a run in the third quarter, going on a 7-1 scoring stretch to close the period and erase a six-goal Big Green lead. Kaut and Bell both scored three goals apiece in the third to lead the charge.

How it Happened

Q1: Dartmouth took the early advantage in a low-scoring first, finding the net twice to go up 2-0. Bryant was held without a goal for over eight minutes to start the game until Emily Oliver scored with 6:15 remaining in the quarter. Skylar Simmonds followed that up with a free-position goal less than thirty seconds later, but the Big Green responded with three straight to close the quarter.

Q2: Dartmouth extended their run to four with a goal less than a minute into the second and held it there until Simmonds scored her second at the 9:53 mark. The Bulldogs inched closer when Emily DeGeorge scored her first career goal a few minutes later, but a pair of Big Green goals closed the half and put Bryant down 8-4 at the break.

Q3: Dartmouth opened up their biggest lead of the game with two goals early in the third, making it a 10-4 game. Chamberlaine Bell gave the Bulldogs momentum, hitting the net twice in less than thirty seconds to kickstart a 4-0 run. Bryant would close the quarter scoring seven of eight, with Kenna Kaut netting three straight goals to tie the score at 11 heading to the fourth.

Q4: Dartmouth looked to have control after scoring three in a row in the first eight minutes of the fourth, but back-to-back goals from Oliver and Kaut once again brought the gap to one with less than three minutes to play. The Bulldogs could not get it back to even, however, turning it over twice and allowing another Big Green goal to seal the 15-13 decision.
