Bulldogs' efforts not enough in season opener
SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University women's lacrosse team fell to the Monmouth Hawks in their season opener on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
Quarter 1: Monmouth came out hot in the first quarter racking up a 9-3 goal advantage on the Bulldogs.
Quarter 2: Bryant answered back in the second quarter however, putting up four goals to Monmouth's three to bring the score to 12-7 before the half.
Quarter 3: The Hawks had their way with the Black and Gold in the third, dominating in the draw circle to help them pull away even farther with the lead.
Quarter 4: The Bulldogs showed fight at the end and went on a four goal run in nine minutes. Monmouth then tacked on two more in the final three minutes to make the final score 22-12.
Notes and Notables
- Senior Kenna Kaut led the team with four goals. Amelia Piercy and Kolbi Spencer were the only other Bulldogs to score multiple goals. Both had two on the day.
- Spencer and Gabriella Constant scored the first goals of their Black and Gold career. Spencer put up two tallies while Constant had one.
- Jessica Tosone, Lily Auger, Emily DeGeroge, Claudia Bonaventura, and Peyton Woodward all tallied an assist in the contest.
- The two squads were even on ground balls with ten a side. Monmouth held the edge in shots and draw controls with the Hawks outshooting Bryant 36-24 and winning 22 of 36 draw controls.
- Same Centofante and Isabella Cardi combined in goal for four saves on the afternoon.
